RC Unseasoned Cream Sauce Mix provides an economical and consistent replication of a classic Béchamel or cream sauce. Béchamel sauce is a Mother Sauce, which is prepared with milk and roux, and used as a base for many sauces. RC Unseasoned Cream Sauce Mix is a milk-colored paste. It is easy to prepare and resists breaking when held on a steam table.
RC Unseasoned Cream Sauce Mix may be used as a foundation for cream soups and sauces. The product is dissolved in water, stock and/or milk and heated to thicken. The quantity of liquid used will control the consistency. Soup bases, seasonings, vegetables, meat, poultry and seafood are among the many ingredients that may be added to create your favorite soups, sauces or entrées.
To prepare, dissolve 1 jar of RC Unseasoned Cream Sauce in 4-6 quarts of cold water, depending on desired consistency. The mix may dissolve more easily if a cold water slurry is first prepared and then added to the remaining liquid. Heat the mixture to a boil while stirring frequently. Seasonings and other ingredients are added at this time. Milk may be substituted for some of the water.
Product is packaged in plastic jars or pails with a lot number and “packed on” date.
