Spicy Pumpkin Caramel Custard or Flan
1 large Flan or 20 4 oz. individual
Ingredients
- 1 lb. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. water
- ½ tsp. lemon juice
- ⅛ tsp. Chipotle Chile Flavor Concentrate
- 2 quarts half & half
- 1 pkg. No Bake Custard Mix
- ¼ tsp. Chipotle Chile Flavor Concentrate
- 1 16 oz. bottle, prepared RC Spiced Pumpkin Coulis
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
Instructions
- 1 Caramel Sauce : In a heavy bottomed pot, combine sugar, water and lemon juice.
- 2 Heat mixture over medium flame until the sugar turns golden brown.
- 3 Immediately pour one tablespoon into each oven proof dessert cup.
- 4 Caution: this will be very hot.
- 5 Custard : Mix cold half & half with RC No Bake Custard Mix, vanilla extract , RC Chipotle Chile Concentrate and prepared RC Spiced Pumpkin Coulis and prepare following package instructions.
- 6 Fill each dessert cup with hot custard mix and refrigerate for two hours.
- 7 To unmold, simply invert onto your dessert plates.
- 8 To "Umamify" the recipe, add ½ tsp.
- 9 RC Umami Sensations™ Kokumi Powder and ½ tsp.
- 10 Mirepoix Powder to the cold half & half.
- 11 Toasted pumpkin seeds and RC Dessert Sauce Mixes can be used to garnish the Flan.
